Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced that it has launched fourth generation mobile services in Kolkata and claimed that this initiative had also resulted in India becoming one of the first countries in the world to commercially deploy this cutting-edge technology.
As the Airtel 4G website went live few hours ago , the tariffs have also appeared on the site. The plans start from Rs.999 for 6GB of data and the top-end plan is Rs.1999 for 18GB of data. There is also a plan for Rs.1399 which gives you 9GB of free usage. Initially , these plans will be available only over USB modems and will be available on both Prepaid and Postpaid. After you cross the free data quota , your speed will be throttled to 128 Kbps as per Fair Usage Policy.
Here is the list of 4G LTE Plans from Airtel. The breakfree plan is the cheapest one offering 6GB of data at Rs.999. We feel its a great price point for offering 4G services.
Although 18GB is a lot of data offered on the Breakfree Ultra plan, at a speed of approximately 40 Mbps you can download 18GB of data in just one hour !
